Programs

We have a daily routine filled with structured activities as well as opportunities for free play. Each day the children participate in circle time where we review the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, days of the week, months of the year in English and Spanish. We sing songs, have finger plays, read books, create puppet shows, do flashcard exercises and puzzles. We create art projects corresponding to our weekly educational themes, so by the end of the week your child’s cubby will be full of artwork and worksheets.

Our curriculum is setup in weekly series called themes. Each week we study a new theme. Some of our themes include Community Helpers, All About Me, Wonderful Winter, and What is an Amphibian?. We explore each theme fully by reading books, watching movies, doing worksheets, looking at sample objects, participating in role plays, having show and tell, listening to cd’s, using the internet and inviting guest into our program. We also have writing journals were the children become more familiar with their numbers and letters. This helps them feel more comfortable with words and is an excellent tool when preparing children to read. We have a daily nap/rest period as well as outdoor play. If the weather is not permitting, we exercise indoors to keep the children healthy and fit.

We have different learning centers throughout our room to foster fun and learning. We have an:

  • Art Center
  • Library Center
  • Dramatic Play Center
  • Music Center
  • Dress-Up Center
  • Manipulative Center
  • Computer Center
  • Block & Construction Center
  • Science Center
  • Transportation Center

We have lots of other educational toys and games for your child as well. We have matching, sequencing and memory games, math games and manipulatives, puzzles, dice, blocks, coloring books, writing/drawling easels, chalk boards, magnadoodles, felt boards and characters, lacing and weaving games, clocks, see and says, cash registers, shape sorters and much more!

Our outdoor playground is over 1,700 sq ft, which gives the children plenty of room to play and to run off lots of energy. It is equipped with a Little Tykes 8 N 1 playground, two stand alone slides, a basketball goal, push toys, tricycles, wagons, balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, chalk, push cars, a cottage playhouse, a log cabin playhouse, sand/water table, frisbees, and a picnic table. We always have a blast outdoors!

Our children are fed nutritious meals and snacks that meet the National Adult and Child Food Program requirements. For example, breakfast for children one year old and older contains the following: Milk, a fruit and a grain or bread. Lunch is composed of four different components: Milk or a fluid, 2 servings of fruit and/or vegetable, a grain or bread, and meat or a meat alternative. This all may be a little confusing, so here is an example of our menu:

Breakfast
Cheerios, Milk, Banana
Snack
Apple Juice, Pretzels
Lunch
Chicken, Rice, Broccoli, Pineapples, Milk
Snack
Berry Juice, Banana Bread
